Country Music Hall of Fame
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville is a showcase of country music history with a long list of country music singers. You can take a self-guided tour through two floors of the exhibits. One of the permanent exhibits portrays the story of country music all the way back to the 19th century. Along the way you will see case after case of themed exhibits about Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and more. You can read about the story of country music and see the instruments, costumes and photos that make the story come to life. You can even hear original recordings of country music stars. At the end of the self-guided tour you will find yourself in the Hall of Fame Rotundra, the space that honors the Hall of Fame members. If you are there at the right time you can see the taping of the show “The Master Series” that airs on GAC television. Stars like Reba McEntire and Garth Brooks are often the subject of the show so you may just get to see them.

Whether you are looking for romance, dancing or just some festive entertainment you’ll find it here. Taking one of these riverboat cruises is a great way to experience some great Nashville entertainment. The dinner cruises have a show called Country Music USA featuring hit songs from the past as well as blockbuster hits of today. There are also mid-day cruises. The food is great, the entertainment is great and the atmosphere is great as well. It is a fun cruise and definitely worth seeing.

Visiting the Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson is a great way to spend a few hours in Nashville. You can learn about the role that he played in the history of Nashville, Tennessee history and in the United States History. Just imagine what life would have been like in the 1800’s for the leaders of this country. The entire tour takes about two hours. The visitor center has a short film that you can watch and has several exhibits that you will want to see. It also has a museum store and a café if you are hungry.
Visit one of the outdoor water parks in Nashville. It is a great way to cool down during the summer. Wave Country is a smaller water park and it is usually not as crowded as Nashville shores. Both water parks are a lot of fun.
Go to a Nashville Sounds baseball game. Baseball is always fun and kids can usually meet the team mascot, Ozzie after the game. Here is a tip for you. Plan an extra hour into the schedule. Greer Stadium is right next door to Fort Negley Park, a civil war battlefield and it is free to see. It will take about an hour unless you decide to watch the films about it then you better plan for two hours.
Visit the First Center for the Visual Arts which hosts a spectacular array of art from around the world. This is a family-friendly non-traditional museum which the whole family will enjoy. One of the most popular areas of the center is the ArtQuest Gallery with activities for all ages. There are 20 interactive stations where you can do such things as make a print, paint your own original watercolor, create a sculpture, and more. There is also a gift shop and cafe. This is truly a wonderful place to spend a few hours on your trip to Nashville.
For another great museum stop, try the Tennessee State Museum. Some consider it the best museum in Nashville, and there is free admission too.
Go for a hike at the Radnor Lake State Natural Area. Radnor Lake is a nature sanctuary, so the trails are strictly used for hiking and wildlife observation. Wildlife abounds, and you can see geese, herons, salamanders, coots, and all manner of other interesting animals.
Many places offer horseback riding, which is a fun way to enjoy the scenery of this very pretty area.
The Pancake Pantry
The Pancake Pantry is quite popular and a reported celebrity hotspot. However, if you would like to avoid the lines which will be around the block for breakfast, you can find the same type of meal at IHOP or Bob Evans. Both Kids and adults will enjoy a trip to the Nashville Zoo. There is a petting zoo and a portion of the zoo that has farm animals. There is also a large playground. you can spend the whole day there and have a wonderful time.
During the fall months take the kids to a corn maze. These are seasonal events but they are lots of fun. Most of them have several activities for the kids. Usually there are hay mazes for the little ones and they get to pick out and paint a pumpkin at most of the corn mazes.
